Who can forget the physique of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Pumping Iron as he went on to win his seventh Mr. Olympia? His combination of size and symmetry was declared by many to be the perfect body. This bodybuilding physique led many young boys to begin picking up weights and starting off on their own journey to achieve perfect bodies.

Getting into ripped and extremely muscular shape is a little harder than just picking up a dumbbell and starting to curl, however. It requires intense determination and dedication to both diet and exercise principles. Body building is perhaps as much science as it is physical exercise and diet as it requires the right combination of both to achieve maximal results. First let's look at some of the exercises that bodybuilders do to achieve their superhuman bodies.

Of all the exercises that one can do to build muscle, none is more effective than the squat. This exercise allows you to lift an incredible amount of weight and will develop your entire lower body as well as many of the muscles in your upper body. In addition, exercises such as the bench-press, dead lift, and pull up will work most of the other groups of muscles in your body as well. Bodybuilders, as they become more experienced, incorporate different types of isolation exercises as well that are designed to hit individual muscle groups. These isolation exercises help bodybuilders develop extreme muscle density and definition that gives them their marbled statue look. Because muscle growth actually takes place during rest periods, it is important to take a day or so off of lifting weights in the middle of the week to allow your muscles time to grow. If you simply work out 6 to 7 days per week, you can easily over train and your muscles will actually shrink rather than grow.

The diet of a bodybuilder is extremely important as well. One must eat to not only provide their muscles with the proper nutrients and energy to grow, but also to not add additional fat stores to their body; this process is an extremely delicate one indeed. Most bodybuilders prefer diets that are extremely high in protein because it is the building block of muscle growth. In addition, while they do consume varying amounts of carbohydrates, they try to do so by including slow burning carbohydrates such as various fruits and vegetables versus sugary sweets that can cause insulin levels to spike in the blood and potentially cause unwanted fat gain around their midsections. Their diets may change drastically directly before competition so as to lose all possible water and fat from their body to achieve that extremely tight ripped look when hitting the stage. Now, most of us won't ever put on a pair of bikini trunks and slather our bodies in oil to compete in pose off, but by following basic bodybuilding diet principles we can get our bodies in peak shape and turn more than a few heads at the beach.

Easiest Ways to Make Authentic Sourdough Bread by: Mary Walsh



Sourdough bread is usually included among the favorites of many bread connoisseurs around the world. Novice bakers find it difficult to capture the intense and deep flavor present in Sourdough breads. It also takes considerable practice in creating the perfect sourdough breads.

They say that sourdough bread likely originated around 1500 BC in Ancient Egypt. It became the main bread consumed in Northern California during the Gold Rush period. There are several regions, such as San Francisco, that's known for producing the best sourdough in today's market. In fact, sourdough bread is very much a part of San Francisco's culture. It's the perfect bread to partner with soups such as chili, cioppino and clam chowder, as well as most seafood dishes.

But the thing is, you could make your individual version of sourdough bread right inside your very own kitchen. It's not as hard as it sounds. You'll only need two ingredients, flour & water. Unbleached bread flour is recommended for starting bakers but you also try using flours made of whole-wheat & rye. You could also use organically grown flour if you want. You'll also be needing a clear glass jar big enough to hold in all the mixture.

Here are the directions to creating your very own sourdough starter:

First Day: Cleanse jar thoroughly. Put 1 c of your choice flour & 1 c of water into your jar then stir the mixture. Use a plastic or wooden spoon for this. Don't attempt using your metal spoon. Find any damp clean towel then use this to cover your jar. Store jar in any warm place. Ideal temperature is somewhere around 70 - 80 deg. Fahrenheit.

Second Day: All you need to do is to take care that your jar is still securely in its place. Bubbles may appear inside your jar, but don't worry about this.

Third Day: Open your jar & observe that there might be a bit of a sour smell. Don't be alarmed. This is normal. Now throw away 1/2 of your mixture. Add 1/2 c of lukewarm water and 1/2 c of the flour to your mixture then stir it well. Next, cover your container again then return it to its original location.

Fourth to Seventh Day: Do the third step in Days 4 to 7. Throw away 1/2 of your mixture and add fresh water and flour to your jar again.

By the seventh day, the container should be already filled with bubbles. The expansion in its volume indicates that your starter can now be used. You could now use this mixture for baking your very own sourdough bread, or store it for future use

Bola basket selain menggunakan teknik tidak terlepas dari alat - alat dan perlengkapan serta lapangan tempat bermain bola basket. Berdasarkan Peraturan Permainan PERBASI/FIBA tahun 1980 - 1984, alat-alat perlengkapan dan lapangan terdiri dari :

  1. Bola Basket.
o   Terbuat dari karet yang menggelembung dan dilapisi sejenis kulit, karet atau sintesis.
o   Keliling bola tidak kurang dari 75 cm dan tidak lebih dari 78 cm, serta beratnya tidak kurang dari 600 gram dan tidak lebih dari 650 gram.
o   Bola tersebut dipompa sedemikan rupa sehingga jika dipantulkan ke lantai dari ketinggian 180 cm akan melambung tidak kurang dari 120 cm tidak lebih dari 140 cm.
o   Secara umum ada tiga jenis ukuran bola basket, 5, 6, atau 7.
o   Bola yang biasa dipakai adalah bola ukuran 7. Bola 5 biasa dipakai pada pertandingan resmi tingkat SD, bola 6 biasa dipakai pada pertandingan resmi tingkat SMP.

  1. Perlengkapan Teknik
    • Untuk pencatatan waktu diperlukan sedikitnya 2 buah stopwatch, satu untuk pencatat waktu dan satu lagi untuk time out.
    • Alat untuk mengukur waktu 30 detik

    • Kertas score (Scoring Book) untuk mencatat/merekam pertandingan.
    • Isyarat - scoring board, tanda kesalahan perorangan yakni angka 1 sampai dengan 5, serta bendera merah dua buah untuk kesalahan regu.

  1. Lapangan
·         Lapangan Permainan.
o   Berbentuk persegi panjang dengan ukuran menurut NBA menerapkan 28.65 m x 15.24 m sebagai ukuran standar lapangan basketnya, sedangkan FIBA menerapkan 28 m x 15 m sebagai ukuran standar lapangan basketnya, yang diukur dari pinggir garis batas.
o   Variasi ukuran diperolehkan dengna menambah atau mengurangi ukuran panjang 2 m serta menambah atau mengurangi ukuran lebar 1 m.
o   Di lapangan ini terdapat beberapa ukuran seperti : lingkaran tengah, dan lain sebagainya.

  • Papan Pantul.
o    Papan pantul dibuat dari kayu keras setebal 3 cm atau dari bahan transparant yang cocok.
o    Papan pantul berukuran panjang 180 cm dan lebar 120 cm..
o    Tinggi papan, 275 cm dari permukaan lantai sampai ke bagian bawah papan, dan terletak tegak lurus 120 cm jaraknya dari titik tengah garis akhir lapangan.

  • Keranjang.
o    Keranjang terdiri dari Ring dan Jala.
o    Ring tersebut dari besi yang keras dengan garis tengah 45 cm berwarna jingga.
o    Tinggi ring 305 cm dari permukaan lantai dan dipasang dipermukaan papan pantaul dengan jarak 15 cm.
o    Sedangkan jala terdiri dari tambah putih digantung pada ring. Panjang jala 40 cm.

SLANK

    Slank adalah nama salah satu grup musik papan atas Indonesia yang bermula dari Desember 1983 dengan pendirian Cikini Stones Complex (CSC), grup musik yang terdiri dari anak-anak SMA Perguruan Cikini, Jakarta. Di sinilah Bimo Setiawan (drum), Boy (gitar), Kiki (gitar), Abi (bass), Uti (vokal) dan Well Welly (vokal) mengekspresikan kesukaan mereka terhadap karya-karya Rolling Stones.

    Sayangnya grup ini tidak bisa bertahan dan membubarkan diri. Selanjutnya berturut-turut terjadi perombakan personil sampai akhirnya terbentuk formasi ke-14 pada tahun 1996 yang bertahan sampai sekarang. Formasi akhir ini, yang dimulai dari album ke-7 Slank, terdiri dari Bimbim (drum), Kaka (vokal), Ivanka (bass), Ridho (gitar) dan Abdee (gitar).

    Slank memiliki kelompok penggemar yang fanatik, yang dikenal sebagai Slankers.

    Slank berdiri desember 1983. dengan nama awal cikini stone complex, dengan beranggotakan, Bimo Setiawan (drum), Boy (gitar), Kiki (gitar), Abi (bas), Uti (vokal), Wel Welly (vokal).Mereka sering membawakan musik2 dari Rolling Stone, idola mereka. Di tengah jalan beberapa dari mereka keluar. karena keuletan Bimbim, panggilan Bimo Setiawan membentuk band lagi dan merubah nama menjadi Red Evil. dengan formasi Bim2(drum), Bongky (gitar), Kiki (gitar), Denny (bas), Erwan (vokal). dan mereka sudah mulai berani memainkan lagu2 mereka sendiri.

    Penampilan mereka diatas panggung yang cenderung seadanya dan slenge’an. sehingga para penonton sering menyebut mereka band slenge’an. mulai saat itu nama band mereka berubah menjadi Slank.

    Pergantian personil menjadi kebiasaan dalam band ini. sudah kali band ini ganti personil, dengan personel Bim2(Drum), Kaka(Vokal), Bongky(Bas), Indra(Keyboard), Pay(Gitar).

    Berkali-kali mengirim demo ke berbagai label, berkali2pula rekaman mereka ditolak. lalu mereka bertemu dengan seorang produser Budi Susatio. setelah mendengarkan musik mereka, Budi yakin bahwa musik mereka akan banyak disukai. karena musik mereka beda dari musik mainstream pada masa itu. Slank menggabungkan antara POP, ROCK N ROLL, BLUES, DAN ETNIK. yang menjadi warna musik Slank.



    Keyakinan Budhi terbukti. album pertama SUIT…SUIT..HE.HE… meledak di pasaran dengan hits maafkan dan memang. dengan album pertama itu pula slank mendapat penghargaan pertamanya di BASF award sebagai pendatang baru terbaik.

    sejak saat iu slank mulai dikenal masyarakat seluruh indonesia, dan terus berkarya. karya mereka antara lain:
    KAMPUNGAN,PISS,GENERASI BIRU, MINORITAS.Setelah penggarapan album minoritas slank kehilangan 3 anggota sekaligus Bongki,Indra,Pay (yang sekarang sukses dengn BIP-nya). akhirnya ka2 dan bim2 berjuang mempertahankan band ini. dengan 2 personel mereka mencoba membuat album baru, LAGI SEDIH. dengan dibantu Ivan (bass) dan Reynold (gitar).

    hingga akhirnya tahun 1996 terbentuk formasi ke-14 yang terdiri dari Kaka (vokal), Bim2 (drum), Ivanka(bass), Ridho (gitar), Abdee (gitar). hingga sekarang mereka telah menelurkan 14 album:
    TUJUH,VIRUS,MATA HATI REFORMASI,999+09,SATU-SATU,PLUR,SLANKISSME,SLOW BUT SURE. ini belum termasuk album live dan de best.Hingga sekarang slank masih berkarya dan banyak memiliki penggemar yang biasa menyebut diri mereka SLANKERS. mereka cenderung setian pada slank. karena mereka menganggap musik slank adalah musik jujur apa adanya. yang mewakili jiwa dan semangat muda.Dan untuk ultah ke 24 ini slank akan mengadakan konser dengan judul: Slank Fest:From Slank With Love. acara ini akan diadakan di pantai karnaval ancol tanggal 29 desember 2007 jam 7 malem. dan diisi oleh:The BIG HIP (JAPAN), Julia Perez(jupe???), Dewi Persik, Nirina Zubir, Maia (Ratu), Sherina, Melanie Soebono, Astrid, T2, Sarah. harga tiket 15ribu.Dan juga Slank rencananya akan launching album internasionalnya pada bulan april 2008. yang berisi lagu2 Slank dengan lirik Bahasa Inggris.
